The X chromosome contains 900-1400 genes, while the Y chromosome contains only about 70-200 genes, which explains its influence on the development of the penis. Other factors that affect penis size:

the amount of androgen hormone in the mother's body at an early stage of intrauterine development of the fetus;
testosterone and growth hormone levels during puberty;
the effect on the body of chlorpyrifos penticides, polyfluoroalkyl substances, triclosan and bisphenol in the process of fetal development;
the effect of environmental estrogens on the body during puberty.

The size of the penis also depends on the baby's nutrition in the womb and in the first years of life. Malnutrition can lead to hormonal disorders and slow development of the whole body, including the penis.

How to determine penis size?

It is not necessary to determine the size of the penis in a calm state, as the length and diameter of the penis can vary depending on external factors (for example, from cold, the penis may decrease by 50% in length and by 20 -30% in circumference). It is necessary to measure the size of the penis in a state of erection. To measure the length of the penis, use a centimeter tape with which you need to measure the distance from the base of the penis to the end of its tip.

A soft measuring tape or a non-stretchable rope can be used to measure the diameter of an erect penis. For an accurate result, wrap a ribbon or rope around the thickest part of your penis. When using a tape measure, simply look at the number you get when you connect the ends. Use the rope to straighten it and use a centimeter to measure the distance from the mark to the end of the rope.

Average penis size

The average penis size among men over 17 was examined by US doctors in 2014. The study involved 15, 521 men. Average penis sizes:

the length of the erected penis - 13, 12 cm;
the circumference of the erected penis is 11, 66 cm.

The presence of a micropenis or a desire to enlarge the anatomically normal size of the penis is an indication for penis enlargement surgery. Before penis enlargement, consultation with a surgeon is necessary.

Ways to enlarge your penis

You can increase the thickness of the penis using lipofilling. During the procedure, the patient's adipose tissue is injected under the skin of the penis. Lipofilling makes it possible to increase the width of the penis up to one cm.

Various methods are used to enlarge the penis surgically. Penis enlargement methods:

ligamentotomy (elongation of the penis occurs by incision of the supporting ligament that attaches the penis to the pubic bone);
phalloplasty (prostheses are performed to enlarge the penis).

If there is an indication to enlarge the penis in diameter, muscle tissue transplantation can also be performed. The operation allows you to increase the thickness of the penis up to three to four cm.

The technique of penis enlargement is chosen by the surgeon at an initial consultation, depending on the patient's needs, indications and contraindications for the operation.

How to enlarge your penis with exercises

None of the studies that have been performed confirm the effectiveness of training to permanently enlarge the penis. Penis tension exercises can lead to bruising, damage to blood vessels, redness, numbness and swelling in the area of the penis. Penis enlargement with exercise can also result in inability to maintain an erection.

How is the penis enlargement operation going?

Before ligamentotomy in the evening and in the morning before surgery, the patient must refuse food, and two hours before surgery - from water. Penis enlargement surgery is performed under intravenous anesthesia.

During penis enlargement surgery, the doctor makes an incision in the ligament that connects the pubis and penis and frees the inside of the penis. After removing the hidden part outside, the doctor fixes it in the desired position. The duration of the operation takes up to half an hour.

The temporary effects of penis enlargement can be pain, slight swelling and bruising in the penis area. If necessary, the surgeon may prescribe pain medication for several days.

Ligamentotomy or falloplasty?

To enlarge the penis, ligamentotomy or falloplasty is performed. Phalloplasty is performed only if there are severe indications (if there is a micropenis, if the penis is damaged as a result of trauma, after sex reassignment surgery).

Unlike ligamentotomy, falloplasty can have negative consequences. Possible complications of phalloplasty:

damage to the rectum or bladder;
to die from the displaced flap;
pelvic bleeding;
prolonged need for drainage (a device that collects blood and fluid from a wound).

After surgery, scars may occur and there may be a decrease in mobility and sensitivity in the area of the penis. When comparing risks and possible complications, a ligamentotomy is the best option.
